Homes and real estate for sale in the Overland Park neighborhood of Denver Colorado

Overland Park was homesteaded in 1859 when Rufus H. (Potato) Clark came to the area now known as the Overland Golf Course. In 1883, the promoters of Denver Circle Railroad bought the farms he established and built a race track, which they named Jewell Park after a former Connecticut Governor, Charles A. Jewell, who was also a stockholder in the racing park and the railroad. In 1887, the park was sold to a group looking for a site for a country club and the racing park was renamed Overland Park. Henry Wolcott bought out the other members and took over the park. He introduced the game of golf to Denver, and developed a nine-hole course circling the race track, the first of its kind, in 1895. The city took over the land in 1919, and through the years the property was used for many other purposes.

Today, this neighborhood has reclaimed its namesake with more than 7000 golfers visiting the course each year. In addition, there is a great network of open spaces and trails in the area, as well as residential streets, active commercial districts and major industrial parks.
